Prayer Survey

Dr. Bill Gaultiere
Executive Director of New Hope

How do you really feel when you pray? What are your core beliefs about prayer? These questions are to help you to reflect on your personal experiences and beliefs about prayer by responding to each statement below as being True or False for you. Circle "T" or "F" to indicate if the statement is "Mostly True" or "Mostly False" of your prayer life.

1. I feel I should pray more than I do. T F
2. I'm often afraid to offer to pray out loud for someone on the spot. T F
3. When I pray it often seems as if my prayers bounce off the ceiling. T F
4. I get frustrated with my mind wandering during prayer. T F
5. I get disappointed that I don't experience more love and power in prayer. T F
6. I think prayer is me asking God to help me or others get our needs met. T F
7. I don't expect God to change his intended plans after I pray. T F
8. I think prayer is for my benefit, not for God's. T F
9. To be truly prayerful is to devote long and focused times for praying. T F
10. I think it's silly to pray about the little things I go through in a day. T F

Those questions you answered "True" indicate you may be struggling to experience prayer as God intends. In the New Hope Notes article, "Living the Lord's Prayer," you'll find helpful Biblical teaching on prayer and see examples of how the Lord's Prayer can help your prayer life.
